Dr. Jay Craig, Assistant Governor, District 6110, was born in Tulsa. He grew up, however, in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He was very active in Sports, as well as music. He played drums with the likes of Conway Twitty, Chuck Berry, and B.J. Thomas, and also worked in Las Vegas for years as a musician, singer, and comedian.
Jay had a distinguished career as a U.S. Marine. He was both a Reconnaissance Marine, and an Air Traffic Control Officer. For his action in combat in Vietnam he was awarded the Silver Star Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, The Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, and numerous other awards. Upon his retirement as a Major, he was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal.
Jay attended Parker University College of Chiropractic, and became a Doctor of Chiropractic in 1993, and practiced in Tulsa, prior to his retirement there. He was voted Tulsa’s “Best Chiropractic Physician”.
He is a martial artist, a former boxer, and has an unbelievable total of 2,033 parachute jumps. He is a 32nd Degree Mason, a Shriner, and is Past Worshipful Master of the Bristow Masonic Lodge.
He is a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow, a member of the Paul Harris Society, Past President of the Rotary Club of Bristow, and a graduate of the Rotary District Leadership Academy. He is also a Facilitator and Evaluator at MAPETS, and a member of the District Club Visioning Team. He is also a Judge at the Four Way Test Speech Contest. He also volunteers every year to be the RYLA Camp Doctor. He was selected last year, to attend the Rotary Zone Institute in Cincinnati as an “emerging Leader”. He attended the Rotary International Convention last year, in Seoul, Korea, and will be attending the Convention in Atlanta, this year. He also went to La Paz, Mexico, on a wheel Chair Mission.
Jay is very proud of his Native American heritage, and of being an Official Warrior of the Comanche Nation. He enjoys dancing at Pow Wows whenever he can.
His interests now are golf, tennis, did I say Golf?,OU Football, his horses, Golf, Rotary Service, Golf, and his lovely bride of five years, Frankie.
